Meniere Tracker
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
Quick Summary
- Your identifiable health data stays on your device
- No personal information is collected or sold
- Analytics are fully anonymous — no user tracking
- iCloud sync is optional and encrypted by Apple
- Aggregated, anonymous trigger signals (pressure, sleep, stress, diet) are collected to train the attack-risk prediction model — no notes, identity, or exact location
- No third-party advertising SDKs
1. Introduction
Meniere Tracker ("the App") is developed by Umut Bozdag ("we", "us", "our").
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy
explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices
regarding your data.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Health & Personal Data (Stored Locally)
The App allows you to record:
- Vertigo / Meniere's disease episodes (severity, symptoms, duration, notes)
- Daily health logs (salt intake, sleep, stress, caffeine, alcohol, water intake)
- Medications and reminder schedules
- Profile information (name, age, affected ear, known triggers)
All of this data is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's
SwiftData framework. We do not have access to this data, and it is never sent to
our servers.
2.2 Apple HealthKit Data
If you enable the Apple Health integration, the App may read the following
data types from HealthKit:
- Sleep analysis
- Heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV)
- Step count
- Environmental noise exposure
- Caffeine intake
- Blood alcohol content
- Blood pressure
The App may also write symptom data (vertigo, dizziness, nausea episodes) to HealthKit.
HealthKit data is processed entirely on your device and is never
transmitted to any external server. You can revoke access at any time in
iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
2.3 iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable iCloud sync (a Pro feature), your data is synced across your
Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is encrypted
by Apple and governed by
Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not have access to your iCloud data.
2.4 Anonymous Analytics
The App collects minimal, fully anonymous usage analytics to help us improve
the user experience. This includes:
- An anonymous device identifier (randomly generated UUID, not tied to your Apple ID)
- Device model and iOS version
- App version and locale
- Session information (app open/close, screen views)
- Feature usage events (e.g., "logged an episode", "exported data") — without any health content
Analytics are sent to our self-hosted backend on Cloudflare Workers. No
third-party analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.) are used.
No personal information, health data, or identifiable information is
ever included in analytics.
2.5 Anonymous Risk Prediction Data
To improve the App's attack-risk prediction feature, we collect a daily
snapshot of aggregated trigger signals to Apple's CloudKit public database.
This data is used exclusively to train and retrain the risk-prediction model.
What is included:
- Aggregated daily values: salt intake level, sleep hours, stress level (1–5), caffeine yes/no, alcohol yes/no
- 3-day and 7-day trailing averages of the signals above
- Barometric pressure and short-term pressure change at your general area
- Whether an attack occurred that day (yes/no) and the number of recent attacks
- Day of week and month, so seasonal/weekly patterns can be learned
- An anonymous random identifier (the same UUID used for analytics — not your Apple ID)
What is never included:
- Your name, email address, Apple ID, or any other identifier that could identify you
- Your notes, journal entries, or any free-text content
- Your exact location (only the pressure reading derived from your general area is used)
- The specific medications you take, or medication adherence data
- Symptom details, attack severity, or attack duration
This collection is integral to the App's prediction functionality
and is not user-configurable. Data is transmitted via Apple's CloudKit using
end-to-end encrypted transport. Because the records contain only an anonymous
UUID and aggregated numerical signals, they are not personally identifiable.
2.6 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Email addresses, phone numbers, or real names (for analytics purposes)
- Precise location data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- Browsing history or contacts
- Your health notes, medications, or attack details for any purpose beyond on-device use
3. How We Use Information
- To provide the core functionality of the App (tracking, reminders, reports)
- To improve the App through anonymous usage analytics
- To train and periodically retrain the on-device attack-risk prediction model using the anonymous daily snapshots described in Section 2.5
- To diagnose technical issues and crashes
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal or health data
with any third party. Anonymous analytics data is processed solely by us on our
own infrastructure.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Health and personal data is stored on-device using encrypted SwiftData storage.
- The anonymous device identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain.
- If iCloud sync is enabled, data is encrypted by Apple's CloudKit.
- Analytics data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored securely on Cloudflare.
- Anonymous risk-prediction training data is stored in Apple's CloudKit public database, encrypted in transit, and associated only with an anonymous UUID.
6. Data Retention
Your on-device data persists until you delete it or reset your profile within
the App. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 12 months and then
automatically deleted.
7. Your Rights & Choices
- Delete your data: Use the "Reset Profile" feature in the App to delete all local data.
- Disable Apple Health: Toggle off Apple Health in the App's profile settings.
- Disable iCloud sync: Toggle off iCloud sync in the App's profile settings.
- Export your data: Use the CSV or PDF export feature to download your records.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us
with data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted
on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App
after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
